This module includes lectures, and demonstrations by Accredited & Chartered Mediators.
Students are to prepare for and facilitate 2 mediations, participate in role plays and group discussion.
Students will enhance their knowledge and practical experience of the first two stages of family mediation.
1. Intake and Screening clients for Domestic violence, abuse and power imbalances.
2. Students will apply their understanding of client readiness and appropriateness for mediation based on three main factors
a. Assessing readiness
b. Assessing appropriateness
c. Safety for all clients.
3. Use of Case studies for customizing the mediation process.
4. Key concept - reflection in action and reflection on action
5. Observers will augment their skills of curiosity by using the reflecting team model.
6. Focus on customizing the mediation process.
Deliverables:
1. Practice screening clients at intake and throughout the mediation process for safety, readiness and effectiveness.
2. Each student will receive feedback and direction on their Intake roleplay.
3. instruction on writing a progress report.
Participants are expected to
1. Prepare for mediation role play.
2. Complete Reflection forms for each day
3. Complete Observer form for each role play observed.
4. Submit an Agreement to mediate.
5. Complete a progress report to be reviewed by coach
